Peanut Buttercup has spent time in a foster home, and is described by fosters as cuddly and affectionate dog, who loves naps and is a quick learner. Peanut Buttercup was returned from foster care due to severe separation anxiety and has not adjusted well to being back in the shelter. He has displayed high levels of stress, digging persistently at the corners of his kennel and hypersalivating, and has escalated to intense leash biting that handlers have not been able to to redirect with treats or toys, making it difficult to remove him from kennel for walks. Medically, Peanut Buttercup is apparently healthy. Peanut Butter Cup was surrendered to the care center as a stray with no known history. He has recently spent time in a foster home, and his foster describes him as a sweet, affectionate, cuddly dog who learns quickly. During his time in the foster home, Peanut Butter Cup exhibited significant separation anxiety, including trying to break out of his crate, pacing, panting, vocalizing and scratching/mouthing at the door when left alone. On returning to the care center, Peanut Butter Cup has shown anxious and aroused behavior, digging at the corner of his kennel and leash biting intensely when being taken out. Due to these concerns, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home. My Foster writes: This sweet, smiley boy is a professional cuddler who loves nothing more than curling up beside his person, belly up, ready for pets and scratches. Give him a little attention and he'll happily nudge himself against you for more. He's also an expert napper: with a few good belly rubs, PB can fall asleep almost instantly, often accompanied by the cutest little snores. With his big smile, affectionate personality, and love of cozy cuddle time, Peanut Buttercup is ready to be someone's very special best friend!
