About Amelia

Amelia is an adoptable female Hound looking for a home at Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is a young adult and large in size. She is listed on the shelter's euthanasia list, listed due to other, and that date has now passed. Shelters often move these dates, so Amelia may still be waiting. The shelter can confirm.

Intake Info: Amelia, a beautiful 3-year-old girl, was found in Riviera Beach, alone, scared and thin. When found, she appeared to be more friendly with women than men. Sadly she had no microchip so we had no owner information. Medical: Amelia has a head tilt with ataxia. She has had ear cleanings, and it does not appear to be otitis externa. Possible causes are otitis media (an infection or inflammation of the middle ear space located just behind the eardrum) or vestibular disease (a condition that disrupts the inner ear or brain structures responsible for balance, spatial orientation, and eye movements) and possibly neurologic. Spayed female dog with history of CIRD last month, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Behaviors Observed: She was very nervous when she first came here, but she has really opened up and found her confidence. She's been in multiple playgroups, enjoying a push/pull playstyle. The B&E team have been working with her on behavior modification and she is doing great. Request to Rescues: Amelia needs urgent rescue due to her medical issues which are beyond our capacity for care. She needs to see a private vet to assess the extent and cause of the vestibular disorder. This good girl deserves a home where she can be cherished, loved and cared for, and receive the treatment needed in this new season of her life.
