Captain

Captain is an adoptable male Rottweiler looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is a young adult and large in size. He is listed on the shelter's euthanasia list, listed due to lack of space, and that date has now passed. Shelters often move these dates, so Captain may still be waiting. The shelter can confirm.

Evaluation Notes: 10/01/2026 - Kennel Presentation: Dog displays sociability with all handlers by approaching with a loose body and wagging tail. He jumps on to me with soft paws as I enter the kennel with a loose body and wagging tail. He allows brief handling with the same body language. Vet Exam Notes: 10/02/2026 - Dog on vet exam list due to limping on front legs. Dog very friendly and ambulatory x4 but does have abnormal stance bilaterally. RF worse varus at elbow noted. Bilateral hygromas also noted LF worse. Suspect congenital vs elbow dyspasia or injury? Does not seem painful and appears to be chronic. May develop OA if not already. Recommend radiographs at private veterinarian with placement.
