We do not know what happened to Gideon
The date this shelter listed for Gideon has passed. Shelters often push these dates back, and many pets are adopted or pulled by a rescue first, so Gideon may still be there. The shelter can tell you.
Gideon is an adoptable male Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is fully grown and large in size. He is listed on the shelter's euthanasia list, listed due to other, and that date has now passed. Shelters often move these dates, so Gideon may still be waiting. The shelter can confirm.
Intake Info: Gideon A2224627 was adopted in March 2025 and returned in May because his adopter worked long hours and could not provide enough playtime. The adopter described him as sweet and felt he would benefit from a home with a yard. He was adopted again in July 2025 and recently returned after being found loose on the street. He allowed the officer to leash him and safely load him into the truck. No owner has come forward. Medical: Heartworm negative and fully processed. Scrotal dermatitis, leg abrasions, lesions on the right leg, and possible limping noted at intake. He was also very thin with a dirty coat. Staff Notes: Gideon is a high-energy, treat-motivated dog with a history of leash biting that has recently escalated, raising concerns about potential redirected biting. Behavior Notes: Gideon has previously done well in playgroups with male and female dogs. He has a history of leash biting when going for walks or to playgroups but responds well to positive reinforcement. During a recent session, he held his place, responded to 'wait,' and walked successfully with redirection when he attempted to bite the leash. A resource-guarding assessment did not reproduce concerning behavior, although he ate treats rapidly. Continued behavior modification is recommended. Request to Rescues: Gideon is a handsome, energetic, treat-motivated boy in urgent need of rescue. Although he has a history of leash biting, he has demonstrated improvement with positive reinforcement and consistent training. He needs an experienced rescue willing to continue his behavior plan and provide the structure, patience, and enrichment he needs to succeed outside the shelter.
