A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Athena A5803704 was snuggling with her sibling when the runner approached her kennel, the runner separated them, she greeted her with a relaxed demeanor, she was easy to remove, and she required coaxing to walk through the kennels. In the catch pen when she was introduced to the dogs her body was low, her eyes were soft, her tail was low with no wag and her mouth was closed. She was easy to collar and leash. She entered the yard and was nervous during her greetings. She ran away from the dogs and cornered herself at the edge. She kept to herself. She would become nervous anytime the dogs hovered around her. She flashed her teeth at one of the dogs who jumped on her. The handler moved the dog away from her. She remained near the edge of the yard the entire time. Overall, Athena was tolerant of the dogs and does not have a playstyle at this time. Behaviorally ok for public adoption, large calm dogs required.
