Sevyn is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at NYC ACC-Staten Island in Staten Island, New York. She is a young adult and large in size. Sevyn is highly fearful in the care center and not allowing for handling. She will bare her teeth and snap at the leash when they attempt to remove her from kennel. Sevyn has a previous bite which did not break the skin. The stressful shelter environment is making it difficult for her to warm up. Medically, she is a healthy dog. She is currently experiencing significant fear in the shelter environment and is not yet comfortable with handling. Her previous owners shared that Sevyn takes time to warm up to unfamiliar people, and the stress of her current surroundings is making it especially difficult for her to settle in. Once Sevyn feels safe and builds trust, her previous owner describes her as extremely loyal, caring, and very smart. Sevyn will need a patient, compassionate adopter who understands that trust cannot be rushed. Giving her space, respecting her boundaries, and allowing her to approach on her own terms will be essential to helping her feel secure.
