During his time in the care center, Mondelez has been noted to jump up onto the handler and lock his paws onto their waist when they attempt to return him to kennel. Recently, while out with a handler, he began jumping up and nipping the handler on the back, ultimately biting them on their shoulder blade. This bite did not break skin. With handlers, Mondelez is receptive to contact and will lean into the handler. Medically, Mondelez is on treatment for CIRDC. What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me. I would do best in a home with only adult humans. I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets. Mondelez came into ACC as a stray, Because of this we do not know how he is in a home environment. During his time in the care center, Mondelez has been noted to be jump up onto handler and lock his paws onto their waist when they attempt to return him to kennel. He had to be straight armed away from the handler. This behavior has been hard to redirect. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
