A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. She was very affectionate with the runner and playful while the collar was easily clasped around her neck. He remained loose while greeting several dogs through the play yard fence. She became timid as she entered the yard. She was tense with concerned eyes and tolerated several dogs coming up to greet her. She appears to lack confidence and socialization. She was enticed for play and ran away as she was not comfortable with the energy. She spent a few minutes calmly exploring the yard and relaxed as time passed. She began approaching the other dogs and exchanging soft greetings. As she gained confidence, she became playful. She enticed a male sharpei for play. He accepted and the two spent a long time chasing around the yard. She engaged in chase play with several dogs. She enjoyed chasing around the yard and was moderately physical with her play, bumping and jumping over them. She was also respectful of other dogs who did not want to play. She received an air snap warning when she enticed a female shepherd for play. She backed away and resumed playing with others. She was also very affectionate with the handlers and solicited affection from them often. She needs further socialization and confidence building.
