Initially Chase was observed to be highly fearful while in care. Noted to have a tense body and would retreat from handlers when they attempted to interact. Over time Chase warmed up to handlers and now presents with a loose body and wagging tail. Recently Chase has been observed to have a low threshold for arousal. Noted to jump up high on handlers while on walks. In one instance, Chase jumped up and bit the handler on the lip. This bite did not break skin. Medically, Chase is apparently healthy. My favorite volunteers report that Chase definitely lives up to his name! He loves chasing balls and can keep the game going for quite a while. He gets jumpy when treats or balls are held for too long, so he may benefit from some training around his excited jumping. Overall, he is a very happy, playful, excitable boy who loves to engage. He knows "sit" and "down." Once he tired himself out, he happily lay down and enjoyed some belly rubs. What my friends at ACC say about me: I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I love to be loved, but on my own terms! Let's brush up on some canine body language together! I will need daily physical activity to keep me healthy and happy! I need a home without cats or small animals. I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me.
