About Blues Clues

Blues Clues is an adoptable male Siberian Husky looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is senior and large in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Blues Clues, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Blues Clues ACCT-A-45617 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Blues Clues must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST at 10AM. Should Blues Clues' medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Attributes Blue Good Dog Meet (In Shelter) Disclaimer: No Kids Bad Dog Meet (In Shelter) Waiver: Dog Selective/Reactive Blues Clues is a handsome Husky boy with a classic Husky personality and a softer side that shines through once he gets comfortable. He enjoys getting outside for walks, exploring all the interesting smells, and spending time with his people. Staff and volunteers have described him as a good boy who can be easygoing on walks, and he has been known to take treats gently and show off his skills. He can be a little aloof at first, but he has also shown that he can warm up to handlers and enjoy some fun with toys. Like many Huskies, Blues Clues can be vocal and expressive, especially when he sees other dogs! Blues Clues can be strong on leash and may pull toward other dogs, sometimes becoming vocal or frustrated when they are nearby. He has recently participated in a parallel walk with another dog, where he was able to sniff, disengage, and move away on his own, which is encouraging. However, he will need careful introductions and thoughtful management around other dogs while his comfort level is assessed. A home without children is recommended out of an abundance of caution, and he would benefit from an adopter who can provide structure, patience, and positive reinforcement as he settles in. If you're looking for a striking, spirited companion who enjoys outdoor adventures and has plenty of Husky charm, Blues Clues may be your guy! He'll need someone who understands that he may take a little time to feel comfortable and who can help him navigate the world at a pace that works for him. Videos: Blues Clues and Jody: Blues clues and Gus: Blue gets a Thanksgiving meal 2025: Blue doesn't like veggies 2025: Behavior Notes: Per staff 10/27: Came to the front of his kennel with soft eyes, loose body. Took a treat through the bars. Able to easily leash and came right out. Walked pulling mildly. Met Jody, at the fence muzzle munched with high wagging tail then moved away on his own. Started with a walk along, pulled towards her while vocalizing and a high tail. Able to be redirected with treats and calling to him. Took treats a little snatchy, so open palm worked well. Jody's handler slow fed her and we attempted for a quick sniff, Blues pulled towards her with a closed mouth and tenser body then nipped at her leg. Jody corrected with an air snap and Blue was easily moved away with leash pressure. Hung out in the yard with him afterwards, came over to me with a loose body and allowed all handling leaning into my legs. Knows sit and paw! Walked back loose leash and hopped right into kennel . Per staff 10/27 (Regarding meet with Gus): High pitch vocalizing at the fence. Able to parallel walk with Gus. Looking at him and looking away. Able to sniff and move away on his own Walksheet notes: 10/7 - Medium energy, tried to push out of kennel while leashing, pulled towards other dog kennels, not eating outside, aloof but allowed handling, flailed when returning to kennel after a minute walked back without issues. Vocal at dogs - able to sniff them and be sniffed. Mildly shy 10/10 - very good boy, nice medium run, took treats gently 10/13 - very good boy 10/14 - medium energy, pulled on leash, very good on walk, dog reactive 10/14 - good boy 10/18 - love him 10/19 - medium energy, low tail wags, chill, good on walk and on leash 10/20 - low energy, strong on leash 10/24 - strong on leash, added green clip (presumably housetrained), well mannered Playgroup 10/8: Did not make it into playgroup, vocal at the fence with a high wagging tail, muzzle punched then fence. Per staff 10/7: Adding no kids out of an abundance of caution. Per staff 10/7: Kennel Presentation: On the backside of his kennel laying down, came to the front with soft eyes, ears to the side, mid to high tail wags. Took a treat through the bars. Leash Skills: Tried to push out when leashing, able to leash with a larger loop and he came right out. Pulled moderately towards the other dogs kennels while walking out, once outside walked pulling mildly, zig zagging. Sociability: Aloof in the yard, would not come over for treats or calling to him. Came over when squeaking a toy and knows sit. Not eating outside. Tolerant of all handling with ears to the side, loose body, mid to high loose tail wags. Moved away when I stopped. Play: Would chase the toys and run around shaking them, came over to me with them and dropped it then moved away. Dog Interaction: Met Gus, vocal and pacing at the fence, not able to redirect with calling, flailed when leash pressure was applied. Did a walk along, sniffed and was sniffed and moved away on his own. Return to Kennel: When walking back to the building, started to flail on leash and vocalize. Would pull back on leash when pressure was applied. Flailed and bit the leash once. After a minuet started walking again and walked straight to his kennel with no issues, hopped right in and leash was removed by hand. Color Level: Blue Per staff 10/4: There was a call for a loose dog outside of adoptions. I went outside along with another ACA, Blues Clues was sniffing one of the welcome center dogs with high tail wags, ears back. Called to him and he came over panting and we got him into the little room before entering adoptions. He was pacing with a high tail, ears back, panting. Able to leash him and he jumped back once. Walked with me loose leash to his owner. Had to transition leashes to give him back to his owner and he was leash dodging and let out a short vocalization when we got the other leash on. The owner reached to take my leash off and ended up taking off both leashes. He went right back to the adoptions door and we got him back into the room were he was pacing and panting again. Able to get him leashed and he bucked once again, transitioned to the other leash to hand back to owner and he did another short vocalization again. Per owner 10/4: Lived with adults and children, mostly housebroken, not crate trained, high energy, good on leash (this contradicts information the owner provided about the dogs never being on leash before they were brought to the shelter), like to eat everything, favorite snack is chips, good with strangers, and normal with other dogs. Per staff 10/4: Blue was growling at staff when they tried to leash him 10/4: Blue was a walk-in surrender along with another dog due to being unable to afford them. The owner hastily brought the dogs in and during this time, Blue was loose and the owner would not grab him because he tried to bite the owner. When staff approached to secure him, he was low growling. Another staff member saw Blue and one of the other dogs 'going at it' in the parking lot. The owner then reported that Blue tried to bite him when he attempted to break up the fight. Per volunteer 11/26/25: Typical husky boy! When I approached his kennel, he was very vocal and jumping up on the door for attention. Had to take a few tries to leash him because his paw kept getting stuck. He is very vocal with meeting other dogs through the fence with howls and soft barks. Takes treats gently out of my hand. Not overly treat motivated. Took a few pets but didn't solicit them actively from me. Very comfortable with new handlers in the volunteer office, loose body language and begging for food. GAVE him a thanksgiving meal and he ate all of the meat, but none of the veggies! Easily returned to kennel and unleashed. Gave him a gold sticker due to some jumpiness and being excited, however very easy for handling Per staff 11/26: Found dog on porch, dog has bruise on back left leg possibly HBC, dog is alert and walking, dog has a chip. ' Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
