A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Margaret A5778651 backed away from the front of the kennel when she noticed the runner, she barked at him, her body was tense, her tail was tucked, her eyes were concerned with dilated pupils, and she barked at the runner. Once she noticed the runner opening the kennel door, she slightly settled, she slowly walked into the leash. She walked out of the kennel on her own and moderately pulled on leash. In the catch pen when she was introduced to the dogs her body was slightly forward, she barked at the dogs, her eyes were alert and her tail was high with a fast wag. The yard was thinned out and she was allowed to enter the yard. She entered and was tense during her greetings. She waked away from the dogs, she sniffed her environmental surroundings but was slightly uncomfortable anytime the dogs hovered around her. After some time she began to run around with the dogs (hall monitor). She eventually settled and was able to co-exist with the dogs. She followed and ran around with the dogs but she did not engage in play. She would run over to the dogs if any of them corrected each other. Overall, Margaret was tolerant of the dogs and does not have a playstyle at this time. Behaviorally ok for public adoption, adults only recommended, large calm dogs required.
