A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' TJ was at the front of the kennel with a neutral body, concerned eyes, and a low tail wag. He retreated to the back of the kennel with wide eyes and a tucked tail when the door was opened. He dodged the leash, but the runner was able to gently toss the leash over his head. He ran out of the kennel, pulled strongly on leash while bypassing the other kennels, and was wary of being collared. The runner moved slowly, and was able to collar him with no issues. In the catch pen, his body was neutral, his ears were back, his eyes were wide and concerned, and hi tail was tucked. He entered the yard, and exchanged appropriate greetings with the other dogs. He roamed the yard with a high tail, and was tolerant of a pushy female who tried to engage him in play. He continued to roam the yard with a calm demeanor until his former housemate entered the yard. He became very excited and began to jump around in a playful manner. He began trying to mount her, and followed her around the yard with a relaxed body, soft eyes, and an open pant. He did not engage in play with the other dogs, but was able to coexist with no issues. TJ is tolerant of the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and does not have a playstyle at this time. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' TJ was already in the yard when the handler decided to begin the handling assessment. He was moved to the side yard and given a few moments to decompress before the handler entered the yard. He was avoidant of the handler, and had to be lightly restrained with the leash for the entire assessment. His body was tense, his eyes were wide, his ears were back, his mouth was open with a heavy pant, and his tail was tucked. Anytime the handler touched him, his body flinched, his mouth closed, and his pupils dilated. His body was very tense, and he tracked the handler's movements with dilated pupils. He did not growl or try to bite, but he tried to run from the handler. He displayed no social behavior with the handler during the assessment.
