A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Zion greeted the runner with a relaxed body, and sniffed and licked his hand. She was avoidant of the leash, so the runner stepped into the kennel and gently draped the leash over her head. She greeted a few of her neighbors, pulled slightly on leash, and was easy to collar while soliciting petting. In the catch pen, her body was relaxed, her eyes were soft, and her tail was neutral. She entered the yard, and exchanged appropriate greetings with the other dogs. She roamed the yard with a relaxed body, soft eyes, an open pant, and a soft tail wag. She moved away from the other dogs when she felt overwhelmed, but eventually engaged in gentle play with the other dogs. She was wary of the handler, and tried to keep her distance. Zion is tolerant of the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and prefers a gentle-dainty playstyle. She was moved to the side yard, and given a few moments to decompress before the handler entered the yard. Her body was slightly tense, her eyes were wide and concerned, her ears were back, her mouth was open with a heavy pant, and her tail was low. She anxiously tried to scape the yard, but eventually sat down and avoided eye contact with the handler. She remained slightly tense, but allowed the handler to pet her whole body with no issues. She did not growl or try to bite, but was uncomfortable throughout the entire assessment.
