A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" He required a very go-slow approach when being collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the play yard with soft body language. He was approached by a male mastiff and tolerated him sniffing him. He then began to roam the yard and explore. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. He then went and sat in the back comer of the yard for a while. He tolerated dogs approaching him and sniffing him, but he did not retum the greetings. He was approached by a male ma stiff that pawed at him. He gave a show of teeth waming for space and the mastiff walked away. After some time, he came out from the comer and began to grow in confidence around the other dogs, exchanging soft greetings. He remained social for the rest of his time in the yard, but he appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during his time in the yard, but he did not engage in or entice any play. He did not approach the handlers and would constantly create distance away from where they were. Stryker is social with the other dogs, but he displayed no play style at this time. See handling assessment for further stipulations. The handler called to him, but he did not approach. The handler slowly approached him. When the handler touched his tail, he tucked his rear end and darted forward. When the handler touched his rear paws, he spun around to face the handler. No further handling was conducted. He is uncomfortable being touched and he appears under socialized around people. He will also require socialization to being on leash. Due to his fearful nature, lack of socialization with people and his handling sensitivities, he will be designated as rescue only at this time.
