Max

Max is an adoptable male Shepherd looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is a young adult and large in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Max, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Evaluation Notes: Dog displays sociability with me by coming over to greet with a loose body and a wagging tail and is easy to leash and walk out of kennel where he pulls on leash and zig zags on leash, circling me while on leash at times. As we walk by nearby dogs he pauses to greet them where he displays reactivity toward dogs at barrier by posturing offensively while growling with a tense and frontal body, raised hackles, wide eyes, pinned ears and a high tail. He displays sociability with all handlers by coming over for treats and affection with a loose body and a wagging tail. He continues to displays reactivity toward dogs at barrier by greeting inappropriately with a tense body, raised hackles and a high tail. He is observed attempting to jump and/or scale 6 foot fence where he is easy to redirect and displays stress by pacing in yard while panting. He is easy to return to kennel.
