This handsome, goofy guy is a total lovebug who has quickly become a favorite among the people who have gotten to know him. While he can be a little barky and jumpy in his kennel, don't let that first impression fool you! Once Torres is out and about, his sweet personality shines. He is easy to leash, walks nicely on leash, and loves exploring and spending time with his people. Torres is happiest when he's getting attention. He loves to lean in for pets, sit by your feet, and soak up all the affection he can get. He's also a playful guy who enjoys toys and will happily hang out in the yard with a toy in his mouth. He's food-motivated, takes treats gently, and already knows 'sit' and 'sleep,' so he should have plenty of fun learning new things with his future family. Like many shelter dogs, Torres can have some extra excitement when he first gets out of his kennel, and he has some impressive hops! Once he settles in and gets those initial zoomies out, he becomes a much calmer, cuddly companion who just wants to be near his people. He has also shown that he can be easily redirected when something catches his attention. Torres has had several dog interactions while at the shelter, with some positive controlled interactions and some more tense moments. Because of his behavior around other dogs and his tendency to get very excited, he is currently recommended for an adult-only home. His previous owner reported that he is nice with children, and enjoys being around people. Torres is looking for someone who will appreciate his goofy personality, give him plenty of opportunities for enrichment and play, and enjoy all the cuddles this sweet boy has to offer. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion with a whole lot of personality, Torres may be your guy! He likes to chill out in the yard with a toy in his mouth. He is just overall such a nice dog! Per staff 8/13/26: Easy to leash, came right to the front. Walked nicely on the leash, no pulling Yes, I handled the dog. Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue Per Volunteer8/13: I took Torres out again last night. He is truly one of my favorite dogs. He is usually a bit barky in the kennel, but always easy to leash & walk. He is trying to stay housetrained. In the yard he can be playful but most of the time he is affectionate and solicits pets. He just seems to have such a kind soul about him. Per volunteer 8/8/26: I took Torres out for the first time! What a happy dog! Easy to leash & walk, tail wagging away, loves pets, takes treats do gentle. Easy to return to kennel Per owner 8/5/26: Torres was surrendered by his owner of 5 days due to the house being too small for a dog and the owner having too busy of a schedule. He is described as playful, enjoys being pet, and is very quiet. He lives indoors with adults, is not house trained, and is currently working on crate training. He has medium energy, no reported behavioral concerns, and has never bitten a person or animal. He knows 'sit' and 'sleep' and is described as quiet on leash. His owner reports no medical concerns and that he eats pet food and has no favorite toys or treats. Torres likes being around strangers and is nice with children. The owner reports that he attacks cats and dogs; however, the adopter stated that he has never attacked and instead pulls toward cats and dogs. The owner feels Torres would do best in a big house and not an apartment. Playgroup 8/1: Steer Test - Was not able to get a steer test Tense body with pawing at the gate to get in which led to muzzle punching, barking, bearing teeth, and front paws on fence. Sent back - did not get into the yard. Per volunteer 7/31/26: Meet Torres (ACCT-A-256794), a handsome and goofy guy with a heart just as big as his personality! This sweet boy is looking for a forever home where he can trade his kennel for a lifetime of cuddles and fun. Torres is the definition of a \"love bug.\" Once he gets past his initial burst of shelter excitement, he just wants to be close to his people. He'll sit right at your feet and lean in for pets, soaking up all the affection you can give. He's also a champion athlete'some say he's coming for a spot on a professional basketball team with his impressive vertical jumps! Like many dogs in a shelter setting, Torres is always eager to get outside. While he might pull on the leash at first, it's all out of pure joy for his walks. He is also quite the smarty-pants and is very food-motivated, making him an excellent candidate for learning new tricks and engaging in enrichment games. If you're looking for a companion who is equal parts athletic, goofy, and cuddly, Torres is your guy. Come meet this handsome fellow today! per volunteer 7/30: Meet Torres, a handsome, goofy guy with a heart just as big as his personality. ❤️ Like many shelter dogs, Torres couldn't wait to get outside and did pull a bit on the leash at first, but it's easy to see it's all from excitement after spending so much time in a kennel. Once he had the chance to stretch his legs, his sweet personality really started to shine. Torres had a fence meet with another dog and greeted them with some happy tail wags, clearly interested in making a new friend. When he couldn't say hello, he let out a few frustrated barks, but he redirected easily and moved on. Now, fair warning' this boy has some hops! 🏀 He might just be coming for LeBron's spot on the Sixers with those vertical jumps. 😂 But once he burned off that initial burst of energy, he transformed into the biggest love bug. Torres just wanted to stay close, sit by my feet, lean in for pets, and soak up all the affection he could get. If you're looking for a fun, affectionate companion who's equal parts goofy and cuddly, Torres is your guy. He just needs someone willing to give him the chance to trade his kennel for a forever home. 🐾❤️ Per staff 7/30/26 (Regarding fence meet with Choo): Tense and vocalized. Ended attempt to Meet further Per staff 7/30/26 (Regarding intro to Nyjah): Tail slightly higher than middle, some pacing and bouncing at the fence, looking from the dog to the handler and back some vocalizations at the fence towards the other dog, easily redirected away. On leash, we arranged opportunities to sniff, and dogs were able to be in relatively close proximity, mostly ignored each other were more interested in the handlers and their treats. Both dogs ended up doing well with a controlled interaction. Per staff 7/30/26: Kennel Presentation: At the front of the kennel sitting with soft eyes, ears to the side and loose tail wagging. Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out of the kennel. Pulled hard towards the dog who was about 10 feet in front of us. Moments of pulling mildly on the leash when the other dog was no longer in side. Sociability: When I first attempted to pet his body was loose and then he starting jumping up. Need to stiff arm with the leash to redirect his attention. Able to drop the leash again and he explored the yard. Food motivated, played some treat and retreat. Again attempted to pet and he did the same thing where he jumped up repeatedly and needed to stiff arm him as I could not get to the treats. Play: chased after a tennis ball then lost interest. Dog Interaction: Met Choo and Nyjah Return to Kennel: Went right into kennel, had leash already clipped and to slip off. Color Level: Blue Per staff 7/30/26: This dog would do best in an adult only home. Per staff 7/27/26: This dog came in before hours by police. dog was found at above location and transported by police.
