Kingston is an adoptable male Mountain Cur looking for a home at NYC ACC-Manhattan in New York, New York. He is fully grown and medium in size. Kingston has demonstrated significant on-leash reactivity toward dogs, including fixating, hard pulling, loud screaming/vocalizing, and scratching at the floor to reach dogs. Once escalated, he can be difficult to redirect with treats or verbal cues. Kingston is noted to be social with handlers, seeking attention, allowing petting. It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children. I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them. I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me. My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: Kingston is very smart and a good guard dog for any home. He accepts affection from the humans that offer it and loves to be by his handler's side. He didn't seem to care about kids, birds, or squirrels. The only exception is he is reactive when other dogs are nearby. He will hard bark at the other dog (no matter how big or small) which is hard to redirect. However, when he sees the dog while he is moving, he has an easier time being pulled along and he will forget about it. He will benefit from a home with a family that is committed to training him to use his intelligence and protective qualities to everyone's advantage. He will benefit from long walks and puzzles to help keep him happy, healthy, and intellectually stimulated. On our break, we sat on a stoop together and he happily relaxed next to me and laid down, accepting pets and love. Kingston is a great dog that needs a fantastic owner to help him meet his potential.
