Benny

Benny is an adoptable male Havanese looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is a young adult and small in size. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 16, 2026. I am in kennel M03. ID #A2096563 2-year-old male Havanese mix Black/Tan | 10.2 lbs | Intake date: 9/16/26 Status: Rescue only ⸻ 💔 Benny was brought to BARC with NINE other dogs: #A2096404, #A2096532, #A2096537, #A2096553, #A2096556, #A2096558, #A2096559, #A2096564 & #A2096565. The intake report stated that approximately 10 dogs had been left outside in the backyard after someone left the property, prompting a concerned caller to ask for help. ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Benny was examined on 9/16 and noted to be in normal condition. He tested heartworm NEGATIVE and received rabies, DA2PP-V and Bordetella vaccines, deworming/Pyrantel, and Advantage Multi. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Benny is understandably struggling in the kennel. Staff noted that he has been tense with whale eyes and has growled when frightened, including while being shown to potential adopters. At only 10.2 pounds, Benny needs an experienced rescue able to give him the decompression, patience and safe handling he needs outside the overwhelming shelter environment.
