Duke

Duke is an adoptable male Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is a young adult and large in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Duke, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 10, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHD22. ID #A2095828 12 months old ' Male Staffordshire Mix ' Brown/White Weight: 76 lbs intake date: 9/10/26 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES Duke is heartworm negative. On 9/23, Duke developed a hacking cough/URI and was started on doxycycline. His earlier medical exams were listed as normal. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Duke greets staff with a fast-wagging tail, soft eyes and loose body, welcomes petting and is easily leashed. He repeatedly walks on a loose leash, remains neutral going to and from the outside runs, and even knows 'sit.' Outside, he has been quiet and content to keep to himself. In his kennel, he may vocalize when people pass, but he has also been observed peacefully sleeping on his cot and quietly waiting at the gate after potty breaks.
