Earmuff

Earmuff is an adoptable female Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. She is a young adult and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Earmuff, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Earmuff. I am a female, brown and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 15, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHD27. ID #A2096331 12 months old ' Female Staffordshire Mix ' Brown/White Weight: 46 lbs intake date: 9/15/26 💔 Earmuff was abandoned at a dog park with a water bowl and food. ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Earmuff is heartworm negative. Staff have also repeatedly questioned whether Earmuff may be deaf or hearing impaired. On multiple occasions she did not respond to voices, knocking or treats being dropped near her while sleeping and had to be touched to wake up. Once awake, she was happy and wiggly. On 9/21, she developed cloudy nasal discharge, sneezing and a hoarse-sounding bark consistent with CIRD/URI. She was moved to treatment and prescribed doxycycline 200 mg once daily for 10 days. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Earmuff is described as very sweet, happy and wiggly with people. She has walked on a loose leash and gently taken treats from staff. The kennel environment appears stressful for her. She has been vocal, pacing, panting and at times salivating while barking. Outside of her kennel, staff have observed a much more relaxed dog.
