Rover is an adoptable male Schnauzer looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is senior and small in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Rover, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Evaluation Notes: 09/13/2026 - 1 of 2 in kennel - owner surrender due to owner issue Dog displayed sociability by coming over for affection with a wagging tail and loose body. He was easily carried out of her kennel and then leashed and walked outside. He displayed sociability greeting other dogs through the barrier with a loose body and wagging tail and was most interested to stay near handlers/kennel mate. He was easily returned to kennel. Vet Exam Notes: 09/15/2026 - Pt. is BAR, ok to examine. Senior pt. Severe dental disease. Grade 3/6 L systolic murmur. General PE otherwise unremarkable. Declined surgery d/t high risk of cardiac complications with DKT sedation. Recommend dental with full mouth extractions.
