Name: BLAKE Animal ID: A5799634 Location: Downey Breed: PIT BULL Color: WHITE Sex: Male Age: 5 years 0 months Weight: 54.2 lbs Large Dogs OK Medium Energy Level Came in as a stray September 14, 2026 E26-096113 PLAYGROUP CARSON A5799634 The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. Blake A5799634 (Intact) was at the rear of the kennel trembling with a tucked tail when the runner arrived. Coaxing was attempted to no avail, so the runner lowered the divider to prevent Blake from retreating. The runner went around the kennel and allowed Blake to sniff the runner's hand and leash through the barrier before attempting to place it over his head . He appeared wary during placement, requiring gentle petting and coaxing throughout the process. Once leashed, Blake exited the kennel on his own and made his way to the catch pen, though he showed concern as he passed through his neighboring kennels. After entering the catch pen, his body softened and he allowed himself to be collared and leashed without issue. Blake was then allowed into the yard, where he initially greeted the other dogs with a timid demeanor, but he gradually relaxed as the interactions continued. Following the introduction, he remained interested in the other dogs and continued following them around the yard. Blake eventually joined them in a brief chase play before he took a break. He comfortably approached one of the handlers when called and allowed himself to be petted. For the remainder of the session, Blake exhibited confidence as he continued socializing with his friends. Once the session concluded, he was returned to his kennel without incident. Blake could benefit from continued socialization in a yard setting with active dogs, as this may allow him to further improve his social skills.
