About Rumble

Rumble is an adoptable male Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Rumble, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Rumble ACCT-A-263014 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Rumble must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 10AM. Should Rumble's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Are you ready to Rumble?! This handsome boy is a total sweetheart with a wiggly body, a love for affection, and an absolutely unmatched passion for stuffed toys! Rumble is happiest when he has a stuffie in his mouth and a human nearby to give him pets and butt scratches. He'll happily parade around the yard with his favorite toy, trot over to you for some affection, and even try to climb into your lap for cuddles while keeping his prized possession close. He's playful, silly, and full of personality, and his volunteers can't help but gush about what a sweet boy he is! Rumble knows how to sit, takes treats gently, and has shown himself to be cooperative with staff and volunteers. He's often easy to leash and return to his kennel, and he's been an excellent gentleman while staying in a crate where other dogs regularly walk by. He enjoys exploring outdoors, sniffing around, and running off some energy with his favorite toys. Rumble can be strong on leash, so his future family should be prepared to continue working on his walking skills. Rumble has had positive greetings with other dogs and has shown the ability to move away and respond to guidance during playgroup. He may do best in an adult-only home where his needs can be understood and respected. One important thing to know about this toy-loving guy is that he can become possessive of his stuffies, so handling him around prized toys requires care, and trading for treats is the recommended approach. His future family should be comfortable managing this behavior and helping him continue to build positive associations. Rumble was brought to the shelter as a stray after reportedly being abandoned by his owner, and now he's ready for a fresh start with a family who will love him for the goofy, affectionate, toy-carrying character he is. If you're looking for a companion who will make you laugh, soak up your affection, and proudly show off his favorite toy wherever he goes, Rumble might just be your guy. He's ready to rumble his way right into your heart! I was delighted to take out Rumble for his evening exercise on Sunday. He's currently back in ISO. He is 56 lbs, estimated 4 yrs old, has good dog meets, stellar kennel behavior, can be strong on the leash, is trying to stay housetrained, knows sit and is easy taking treats. He is also, strong and fast, and pulled most of the way across the parking lot to the ISO yards. Immediately in the yard, he found the large green weighted ball. That's his trademark - carrying a toy! I was in amazed that he could get that ball in his mouth and carry it around. I offered him some lighter, smaller balls, but he had no desire to release the green ball. Once he had the toy in his mouth, he comes up to me, and turns around, so he can get butt scratches. Then he proceeded to get in my lap, still with the ball in his mouth, so I could pet his head. He then laid down to chew on it, but did stop when I offered him treats for a sit. He was also very patient when I was taking too long to pull out the treats. When we needed to head back in, he started to carry the ball, but then dropped it. He didn't give me any issue returning to his kennel. Our Ready to Rumble boy is Ready to be adopted!!\" Per volunteer 10/6: Praise for Rumble who is back in iso in a crate in the open area; every dog has to walk past him. His behavior in the crate has been stellar. He has been sitting nicely and shows no ill manners toward the other dogs. Playgroup 10/2: Steer test 3/5 with water and 0/5 with can. Good gate greetings. Tolerant. Moves away. Appropriate corrections Per volunteer 10/2: In his kennel Rumble approached me with soft eyes and a wiggly body. He was easy to leash and pulled minimally through the building and once on our walk his nose was to the ground the whole time. He went into one of the play yards where he had so much fun running around with a plushie toy he found. He had notes for possible resource guarding so I didn't not try to pull or take his toy, he happily ran around the yard with his plushie and would come running up to me with his tail wagging anytime I called him over. He would stand in front of me, tail wagging high, while I pet him and he particularly loved butt scratches. Other dogs walked by our yard and he would run to the fence to look at them, but his body was still loose and ears perked. He would come running back to me if I called him. Eventually when we were heading back to his kennel I traded his plushie for a milkbone. Playgroup 10/1: Good gate greetings. Mid tail, ears to the side. Zoomies. Appropriate greetings, able to move away. Attempts to mount able to be steered off by staff. Playgroup 9/30: Steer test 3/5 with water and can. Good gate greetings. attempts to mount however able to be steered off. Mingled around the yard. Per staff 9/30: This dog would do best in an adult-only home. Per staff 9/30: Kennel Presentation: Came to the front of his kennel with soft eyes, ears back, loose wiggly body, took a treat gently through the bars. Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out. Walked pulling mildly, loose body, mid tail wags, ears back. Sociability: Would come over loose wiggly body when I called to him. Allowed all handling with the same loose body language, leaning into me. Jumped on me once when I stopped petting him and hopped down when I moved away. Takes treats gently outside. Play: Loved the toys in the yard. Would pick them up and run around with them. Would come over to me and rub on me with them with a loose wiggly body. When handling would become tenser and tail would lower to a slower low tail and ears were back. Traded it for a treat. Dog Interaction: n/a Return to Kennel: Walked back loose leash with the same body language, hopped right in and leash was removed by hand. Color Level: Exp Gold Playgroup 9/28: Steer Test: 3/5 with water and 4/5 with can. Good greetings, lose body, interested in sniffing the other dogs, mingled around. Started trying mounting one of the other dogs continuously and was being steered off by the handlers. Per volunteer 9/28: \"Rumble had no issues leashing or exiting the kennel. He has wide eyes and his ears to the sides. He held his tail mid level. He walks pretty well on leash. He seemed very interested in sniffing. In the yard, he started by sniffing around. Eventually he ran towards me and started soliciting attention. He knows sit! He can be a bit snatchy with treats. He is very wiggly and a bit jumpy! After a bit of exploring, I found he absolutely adores stuffies. He jumped up trying to grab it from me. I threw it and he took possession. He walked around the yard with the stuffie in his mouth for a while. He had wide eyes and a wiggly body. He did tense a bit when he come up to me. He did bring it over to me and lean into me. He didn't seem interested in letting go of it. I decided to bring him into the volunteer office to further evaluate his behavior with stuffies. In the office, he greeted the male staff member with lots of wiggles. He allowed the staff member to pet him and leaned into. The staff member got the toy and he took possession immediately. He pranced and wiggled around the room with the toy in his mouth, bringing it over to both of us. He continued to lean into for pets and even rolled onto his side. He kept the toy in his mouth. He would not trade a single treat from the hand. He would turn his head and play a game of quick keep away. We were able to throw treats on the ground and eventually he would drop the toy and eat the treats. The staff member was able to grab the toy and throw it again for him. When we put hands closer to his face, he would tense up and raise his lip slightly but never actually showed his teeth. We were able to get him to leave his toy in the room by dropping treats in front of him. He returned to the kennel with no issue! Clearly this man LOVES a stuffie. Be mindful of handling while he has one. Trade for treats!\" Per finder 9/26: Rumble was brought in as a stray after being abandoned by his owner. They described him as being cautious but friendly, pulls on leash but walks well, and overall friendly and cuddly.
