Marvin is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is fully grown and medium in size. She has been consistently described as a sweetheart by staff, with a gentle approach to handling, soft eyes, and a loosely wagging tail when greeting people. She enjoys attention, takes treats gently, and loves squeaky toys. Marvin walks well on leash, seems to know sit, and has a lower-key side, with recent walks describing her as a low-energy girl. Marvin has met other dogs and has shown neutral behavior during some encounters, including greeting a dog appropriately before moving away on her own. She has also displayed tension during a playgroup interaction, so her comfort with canine companions may vary. This affectionate girl is ready for a chance outside the shelter to show more of her personality. Due to her length of stay, Marvin is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter. Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out of kennel. Mildly pulled on leash. Sociability: Tolerant of all handling. Body was loose, soft eyes, ears to the side and mid tail. She remained standing next to me when I stopped petting her. Play: LOVED the squeaky toy. Dog Interaction: Met Boba. Able to sniff and be sniffed. Good greetings, tolerant and moved away on her own. Return to Kennel: Went right into kennel and removed leash with hand. Color Level: Gold Per staff 10/1: Very, very sweet girl! Per staff 9/30, playgroup: Steer test 4/5 with both water and can. Soft eye, ears to the side and mid tail at the gate greetings. Came in with body lower to the ground, moving away. Became tense, snarled, lunged and snapped at Venus Storm who came up to sniff her. Per finder 9/29: Good with all [strangers, children, and other animals]. Pulls on leash. Tends to jump on people. Friendly, cuddly, scared, playful. MEDICAL NOTES: Marvin has a grade III heart murmur.
