About Jolie

Jolie is an adoptable female American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is senior and small in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 2 days left, listed due to medical. Adopting Jolie, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Jolie ACCT-A-265600 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Jolie must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER OR EXPERIENCED ADOPTER by TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27TH at 10AM. Should Jolie's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Jolie is a 14-year-old girl who came to ACCT Philly as an owner surrender on October 23rd. Despite her age, she still has a playful side and was described as friendly, good with strangers and children, and happy to spend time with other dogs who respect her space. She walks well on leash, knows a couple of basic commands, and is mostly housebroken and crate trained. Jolie has limited vision and some mobility challenges, along with significant dental disease and other medical concerns that will need follow-up care. Jolie deserves a comfortable place to enjoy her golden years with someone who will give her the patience, love, and medical attention she needs. Due to her advanced age and medical concerns, Jolie is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or experienced adopter. VIDEOS: Jolie and Snoopy Meet: BEHAVIOR NOTES: Per staff 10/24: Brought out for a dog meet. Easy to leash and walk. Asked for space when the other dog got in her face, then began walking around the yard not really acknowledging him. Allowed pets and ate some hot dogs. Per staff 10/23: Friendly. Per owner surrender notes 10/23: Energetic, friendly, loves to play with other dogs even though she's older. Mostly housebroken and mostly crate trained. Medium energy. She cannot see that well, often barks at nothing, vision not the best. Knows the commands come here and outside. Walks very well on leash. Friendly with strangers. Compassionate with children. Friendly with other dogs as long as they don't knock her over. Unknown with cats. MEDICAL NOTES: Immature cataracts. Significant periodontal disease. Obese body condition. Areas of scar tissue on dorsum. Several probable lipomas on ventrum and in right inguinal region. Weight bearing lame on both hindlimbs (worse left). Crepitus and degenerative changes noted on palpation of stifles, uncomfortable on palpation of hips, osteoarthritis of stifles +/- hips. Given advanced age and multiple medical concerns, urgent promotion for expedited exit within the next 72 hours is recommended. Ok for adoption to an experienced individual willing to take offsite for further bloodwork +/- other diagnostics. -- Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
