A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Jerry was at the front of the kennel alert barking as the runner approached. He settled, sniffed the runners' hand and was avoidant of being leashed. Once leashed he was easy to remove and was taken to the catch pen. He was collared/leashed using a slow approach as Jerry appeared wary of the collaring process. Jerry greeted the dogs at the barrier with a neutral demeanor and was allowed into the play yard. Jerry exchanged greetings with a neutral demeanor then moved on to explore the yard. He sniffed and marked various locations. Jerry continued to socialize as he explored the play yard, appearing to prefer calm dogs. Jerry was given play bows, but he did not appear interested in play and moved away. Jerry approached the handlers and allowed brief petting then moved on. Jerry spent the majority of the play session roaming the yard and socializing amongst other calm dogs. Jerry maintained a calm and social demeanor displaying no play style at this time. Jerry could benefit from further socialization and confidence building. Jerry displayed a relaxed body, open mouth pant, natural ear set, relaxed tail wag, and soft eyes. Jerry approached the handler and allowed petting. The handler was able to examine Jerry's ears, mouth, abdomen, back, tail, and lower extremities. Jerry was tolerant of the handler's exam but appeared tense/uncomfortable with his paws being examined. Jerry is ok for public adoption medium energy level calm dogs recommended.
