A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen, but she was timid. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She bypassed the other dogs and began to explore the yard. She was approached by a male shepherd and gave him a hard air snap for lingering near her face. She then went and sat down in the comer of the yard in the shade. She would growl and give consecutive air snapsto any dogthat approached her. She maintained this defensive behavior for the rest of her time in the vard. She did not approach the handlers and keptto herself. She appears under socialized around other dogs; except the dog she came in with and is kenneled with. Due to these factors, she would likely do best as the only dog in the home. She is fearful and needs a go-slow approach. Due to this, she would likely do best in an adult only home or with older respectful kids. She will also need socialization to walking on leash.
