About Natalie

Natalie is an adoptable female American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. She is a young adult and large in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Natalie, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

08/11/2026 Dog was fearful in the kennel retreating to the corner trembling with a tucked tail. She was leashed and not interested to walk outside and was carried to the play yard. She squirmed at first when I picked her up and adjusted quickly. She immediately moved to greet other dogs and displayed sociability greeting other dogs through the barrier with a loose body and wagging tail. She was able to adjust with handlers and receive affection with a low wagging tail and tucked ears where she remained nervous. She was carried back to her kennel. 08/12/2026 Play Group: Dog displays sociability by approaching me as I enter the kennel with a lowered head, tucked ears, and a low wagging tail. She was able to be leashed and carried outside. She displays sociability with both male and female dogs by greeting them with a lowered head, tucked ears, and a wagging tail while licking their faces. She adjusts slowly and coexists with a loose body and wagging tail. She communicates for space appropriately and is most interested in following handlers and/or walking around the yard independently. She is carried back to kennel. 08/13/2026 Dog was evaluated with A821006 for co-housing. Dog displayed fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS) related to walking on leash and required carrying to exit the kennel area. In the yard, Dog readily approached A821006 with a wagging tail and displayed affiliative behavior. Dog offered multiple play bows and politely solicited play. A821006 initially appeared nervous but responded to Dog's play invitations, and the dogs engaged in reciprocal, gentle, dainty play. They ran throughout the yard and interacted appropriately, including jumping onto the dog table. Dog continued to demonstrate appropriate canine communication and appeared comfortable with A821006's interaction style. Dog still required carrying to return inside but appeared increasingly interested in following the other dog back toward the kennel.
