May is an adoptable female American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. She is fully grown and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting May, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

08/20/2026 Play Group: Dog was fearful upon approach with a tucked tail and tense body. She was able to be leashed and carried outside. She laid down in the yard with a tense body and tucked tail and allowed other dogs to greet her. She was able to move spots around the yard and continued to lay down watching the other dogs. She communicates for space appropriately and is most interested in laying down independently. Behavior possibly due to undersocialization. 08/20/2026 Dog is laying down upon approach with a tense body, wide eyes and a tucked tail. She displays sociability with me by coming over to greet with a tense body, pinned ears and a low tail. She is easy to leash where she exits kennel easily and freezes as we walk by dogs in nearby kennels with a tense body, wide eyes, pinned ears and a tucked tail. She is easy to pick up and carry outside. She is able to adjust once outside where she displays sociability with all handlers by coming over to greet with a tense body, wide eyes and a low tail while drooling. She displays sociability with dogs at barrier by greeting with a tense body, wide eyes, and a low tail. She is easy to return to kennel where she walks on leash.
