Lizzy is an adoptable female German Shepherd looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. She is fully grown and medium in size. Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Lizzy. I am a female, black German Shepherd Dog mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 23, 2026. I am in kennel DA13. Weight: 39 lbs Intake date: 8/23/2026 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Lizzy had no medical concerns documented at intake. She is heartworm negative and received DA2PP, Bordetella and rabies vaccinations, deworming, pyrantel and Advantage Multi. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Lizzy's notes describe a very fearful and unsure dog. In her kennel she has shown a tense body, tucked tail, whale eyes and leash avoidance. Once outside, she remains flinchy and tense. But there are important little moments of trust. Lizzy has approached staff on her own to sniff a leg and allowed petting, although she remained tense. On another occasion, when a staff member crouched down and gave her space, Lizzy slowly approached them to be leashed.
