Serenity

Serenity is an adoptable female Wheaten Terrier looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. She is fully grown and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Serenity, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Serenity. I am a female, white Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 6 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 25, 2026. I am in kennel DB14. Weight: 25 lbs Intake date: 8/25/2026 Status: Rescue only (medical) Serenity came into BARC after being found confined on a property, where the initial report described her as looking very ill and very thin. ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Serenity has generalized hair loss, redness and dermatitis. Her skin scrape was negative, and Advantage Multi was applied at intake. Her nails were severely overgrown, with an ingrown nail on her right hind paw causing a puncture wound with purulent discharge. Her nails were trimmed, and she was started on Clavamox 187.5 mg twice daily for 14 days and Carprofen 50 mg once daily for 4 days. Veterinary staff also found a small approximately 1 cm mammary mass that will need appropriate follow-up. She is heartworm negative and received DA2PP, Bordetella, rabies vaccination and deworming. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: There are no detailed shelter behavior evaluations yet.
