Yoku

Yoku is an adoptable male Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is fully grown and large in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Yoku, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Yoku. I am a male, black Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 7 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 12, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHA28. Weight: 83 lbs Intake Date: 8/12/2026 ⸻ 📉MEDICAL NOTES: Yoku tested high positive for heartworms. On 8/25, Yoku was diagnosed with bilateral lower entropion, meaning his lower eyelids roll inward. He has mild mucoid eye discharge and is being treated with Terramycin to both eyes twice daily for 10 days. Shelter medical staff recommend considering entropion repair with a private veterinarian. Yoku also developed diarrhea and was treated with Panacur and Metronidazole for 5 days. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Yoku is a gentle old soul. He is quiet, calm and relaxed. He spends much of his day cozied up on his bedding and blankets, but will slowly get up to greet staff with a wagging tail and soft face. He is easy to leash and walks slowly on a loose leash, so staff simply follow his pace. Outside, he potties and then enjoys lounging around. He loves treats, sits patiently for them and takes them gently from your hand. Staff even noted that he keeps his kennel clean day and night and may already be potty trained. One staff member has been giving Yoku an extra blanket to wrap up in, and he curls up and sleeps peacefully beneath it.
