Mark

Mark is an adoptable male Rhodesian Ridgeback looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Mark, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Mark. I am a male, brown and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 6 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 24, 2026. I am in kennel DA42. 48.4 lbs | BCS 3.5/9 ' Underweight Intake date: 8/24/2026 Status: Rescue only ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Mark tested HIGH POSITIVE for heartworms and will need appropriate treatment. He also arrived with mucoid discharge from his right eye. While Mark was tranquilized, the eye was cleaned and Erythromycin ophthalmic ointment was applied. The discharge was no longer noticeable the following day, although his lower eyelid appeared puffy, possibly from an abrasion or injury. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Mark is fearful and overwhelmed. In his kennel, he has a tense body, whale eyes and attempts to avoid the leash. When leashed, his fear has escalated to thrashing, requiring staff to carry him when moving kennels.
