Pirata is an adoptable male Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is a young adult and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Pirata, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Age: The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 3 months old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 09, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHB23. Weight: 48 lbs Intake date: 8/9/2026 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Pirata tested LOW POSITIVE for heartworms. He received Rabies, DA2PP, Bordetella, deworming, Pyrantel and Advantage Multi, plus his DA2PP booster on 8/23. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Pirata has shown that beneath the stress of shelter life is a dog who can be calm, quiet, easy to leash and a good loose-leash walker. He has greeted staff with a neutral or loose body, wagging tail and soft expression. Outside, he enjoys sniffing around, goes potty right away and consistently keeps his kennel clean overnight. Pirata has also shown increasing reactivity toward other dogs while confined in his kennel. He can become vocal when dogs or people pass, but covering his kennel has helped him settle and quiet down.
