Sissy

Sissy is an adoptable female Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. She is a young adult and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Sissy, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Sissy. I am a female, white and black Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 10 months old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 11, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHD02. Weight: 55 lbs Intake date: 8/11/2026 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Sissy arrived with crusted debris/wounding on the right side of her neck and scratches on her face. On 8/25, the neck wound opened and developed purulent discharge. She was started on Cephalexin 750 mg twice daily for 14 days. That same day, Sissy developed green nasal discharge consistent with suspected CIRD/URI and was started on Doxycycline 250 mg once daily for 10 days. She is heartworm negative and has received vaccinations, deworming and preventatives. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Sissy is very wiggly, friendly and playful. She greets people with a loose body and fast-wagging tail, is generally easy to leash and walks nicely on a loose leash. She knows 'sit,' takes treats gently and enjoys being petted. In the runs, Sissy has offered play bows to neighboring dogs and has been observed playing with a neighbor dog. Staff describe her with a soft, open mouth and tongue hanging out'just a joyful young girl happy to be outside.
