Briggs

Briggs is an adoptable male American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is listed on the shelter's euthanasia list, listed due to lack of space, and that date has now passed. Shelters often move these dates, so Briggs may still be waiting. The shelter can confirm.

Evaluation Notes: 09/13/2026 - Adoption return due to lunging and biting family member with no break in skin. Dog is stressed upon approach with a tense body and tucked taill. He is easily leashed and adjusts walking outside with a loose body and low wagging tail. He displayed sociability with dogs at barrier by greeting appropriately with a tense body and a low tail walking away on his own. He is walked back to kennel where he is seemingly not interested to enter kennel by pacing at end of leash and pulling backwards. I attempted to carry him where he flailed and was not able to adjust. He was walked back with a secondary leash slowly where he was able to be guided back using an alterate route back to his kennel. Evaluation Notes: Dog displayed sociability by coming over to eat offered treats gently by hand where he was tense. He retreated when I showed him the leash possibly seemingly conflicted as he began wagging his tail. He came over to me quickly where he flinched and retreated when I initially leashed and then once he was leashed he eagerly walked out of the kennel. He pulled heavily on leash through out our walk outside. In the play yard, he was loose while he sniffed in the yard and allowed affection and rump scratches.
