Intake Info: Sadly, Gizmo's owner was homeless and needed hospitalization. No next of kin information was given to us. The ACO who picked him up reported that Gizmo was friendly and appeared geriatric, with cloudy eyes. Medical: Gizmo is around 7-years-old, is neutered, vaccinated and heartworm negative. He has severe dental disease and goopy eyes with corneal changes to both eyes. Considering the breed predisposition for KCS (dry eye), Gizmo will likely need continuous treatment with topical medication for the eyes and under the care of a private veterinarian. Will need anesthesia for dental examination and treatment. HS 4 due to two chronic issues in need of extensive/chronic therapy. Staff Notes: Staff went into Gizmo's cage today to interact with him. When they approached his kennel, they got him to sit for a treat. When they entered the kennel, he approached them multiple times sniffing and showing playful behavior. He seems to not see well but responds well to slower movements. He did allow them to pet him everywhere but would flinch if it was a quick movement. Request to Rescues: Gizmo is an older boy who needs rescue due to his medical issues. He will need continued treatment for his eyes, as well as a follow up appointment with a private vet to determine a plan for his dental.
