He walks nicely with his person and, with all the excitement that comes with being a young dog in a shelter, he may occasionally get a little bouncy or enthusiastic. He responds well to redirection and is eager to engage with his people. Goku has also had several positive experiences meeting other dogs. He has enjoyed friendly greetings, play, and walking alongside canine friends, and he has shown that he can listen to his handlers and move away appropriately when needed. Enagaged in some rougher play. The leashes got tangled, started to get mouthy and his hackles raised, got on top of Saturday and vocalized, while moving Saturday away, air snapped. Per staff 8/19/26 (Regarding meet with Dooby): Mid level wags, looser body, ears back, moving away on his own. Moved away with leash pressure when Dooby was on top of him. Per staff 8/17/26: Easy to leash, came right to the front., Walked nicely on the leash, no pulling, Yes, I handled the dog. Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue Goku is a sweet boy. He loves attention , jumps on kennel door. Very gentle when taking treats from Aca hand. He's very affectionate!! Per staff 8/15/26: He was extremely easy to get in and out of kennel yesterday, he did put the brakes on and stop and back up as we entered the building, but he will literally do anything for a high value treat so it was very easy to get him willingly walking with me again with the promise of a slice of pepperoni Even in the face of dogs being very unfriendly to him, he remained handler oriented, loose body, showed appeasement behaviors towards the dog, and readily ate treats the whole Per staff 8/15/26 (Regarding fence meet with Komodo): Lots of appeasement and displacement behaviors like head, turning away, lip, licks, air hunting, orienting towards the handler, turning away from the other dog. Per staff 8/14/26: Had a dog meet with Rosie. Body wiggly loose, ears to the side, some play bows. Dropped the leash with Rosie. Rosie corrected and did not prefer the high energy play but Goku listened and moved away so we ended the meet there. Per staff 8/14/26: Had a dog interaction with Billy Jowl. Did a fence greeting where Billy was muzzle punching with hard barks and Goku had a positive attitude - tail high and wagging, body loose and wiggly, and he moved away from Billy on his own. Did a walk along with Billy and Goku would check in with me and could care less about Billy trying to interact with him! Per staff 8/13/26 and 8/14/26: I had no issues getting Goku in or out of the kennel! Went right back in on his own. Playgroup 8/12/26: Steer Test - Water 2/5, Can 2/5 Came into the yard and ignored the other dogs. Hopped into the pool a bunch. Good greetings with other dogs but constantly moved away on own and engaged in play by himself. Very handler oriented. Per staff 8/11/26 (Regarding meet with Stardust): Loose body, ears back, mid tail wags, good greetings, moving away on his own. Per staff 8/11/26: At the front of the kennel when I approached. Loose body, soft eyes and ears to the side. Tossed a few treats to the back of the kennel to open the door to leash. He came right back up with the same body language mid tail loosely wagging. He was wiggly to leash and did mouth the leash. Came out of kennel without hesitation. Mildly pulled on the leash. Met stardust, good greetings, loose body, bouncy moves. Moved away on his own. Sat down while other dogs were walking in the distance and quietly looking at them. Can be jumpy however he is food motivated. When going back inside he stopped in the vestibule between adoptions and kennels, pulling back hard. Did not eat any treats, then he started walking again. Again when we got to TTA he started pulling back, needed a second handler to use leash under back side. He did turn and bite at the second handlers leash. Tossed treats into the kennel and removed leash with slip clip. Per staff 8/10/26: Got called to the meet and greet room, an adoptions staff member had Goku on leash he was heavy panting, ears back, wide eyes and mid to high tail wags. He was playing with a treat pouch when I walked in, tossed him a treat which he treaded it for. Attempted to jump on me with an open mouth, ears back, wide eyes, heavy panting, the handler moved him back. I did a treat scatter for him to get his nose on the ground. Walking back we kept a jogging pace, he went right into kennel with the jog and the leash was clipped so it was removed with the slip. Per staff 8/10/26: Brought dog out for a meet with adopters and child (somewhere 9-12, estimate around 4 feet tall). Goku was initially hesitant of the men, ears back and pacing a bit behind me. He then sat at my feet and took some treats from one of the adult adopters that knelt down. Goku approached slowly on his own. The other adopter attempted to interact but responded to my direction that Goku was uncomfortable and let Goku approach. Goku slowly approached the adopter that was kneeling and sat for treats. He took them a bit snatchy but was manageable. However, he still was sitting quite close to me. The adopters said they would take him, but I wanted to try and see if Goku would interact with them on his own. I then dropped the leash and took a few steps away and Goku would follow me, then go back to them. I talked to them about letting him loosen up and approach on his own. The man then told the child not to be afraid and pet the dog. Goku allowed the pets, loose but panting and wide eyed. The child picked up a tennis ball and and Goku went to take it from the child. The child then screamed and ran away and Goku chased the child. The child pressed himself into the corner and continued to scream. Goku began to jump on the child and began to growl loudly with an open mouth, at which point I was able to grab the leash and pull him off. A staff member then came in and asked the adopters to leave. There was some back and forth, during which time I held onto Goku and he stayed with me. Called for another staff member as backup while getting back to kennel since he'd pancaked before. He would jump at the staff member, although I was keeping my leash short and it may have been frustration. The child did say that Goku bit him, however, the dads were insistent it was a scratch. A staff member looked at the boys arm and will have the details on that. Per volunteer 8/10/26: Such a sweet and affectionate guy full of life! When I approached his kennel, he came right to the front of it with a very wiggly body jumping up on the door. He was licking my hand as I tried to leash him so I had to keep readjusting it then was easily able to get him leashed. Right as soon as we got out of the kennel, he was jumping up on me over and over again, trying to solicit out pets. He pulls quite a bit on leash however he's in tune with leash pressure. Right when we got out to the play yard, he jumped right up onto the seat and solicited out pets from me. Fairly treat motivated and takes them pretty snatchy out of your hand so recommend an open palm. In the play yard he didn't run after toys but seemed interested in them every time I threw them. It was super hot out so we had the sprinkler on and he was completely fine getting sprayed with the water. Took pets from me all over with a very loose body, soft face and wiggly wagging tail. In the volunteer office, he was very comfortable with a new male handler and took treats from both of us. He let me put a hat on his head and stood for some pictures. Very snatchy taking treats and very treat motivated. Only issue we had the whole time was getting him back into the main part of the shelter. We were fine in the volunteer office and then every time we went to leave out the door he pancaked hard. Even dropping treats didn't help. Ended up getting a second handler to loop his back end and help me get him back into the kennel. He really just needed it to get out the door and then was pretty fine walking back to kennel. Giving exp Blue for color based on needing a second handler for return and how jumpy he is. He can be bumped down in color once he gets more comfortable returning to kennel. Per staff 8/8/26: Kennel Presentation: When I approached the the kennel he was standing at the door, when he saw me he had a mid-low tail wag, ears to the side, loose body, and soft eyes. He was very easy to leash and walk to grass yard door. Leash Skills: Walking to door he was very handler oriented, waited for me to go through the door first. Outside, he was walking in front, ears back, tail mid to low wags, body loose, mouth closed. He did mildly pull to the play yard and was able to be redirected with noises and slight leash pressure. Sociability: Will come up to you without treats, but will gladly eat them (I threw them on the ground because he was mildly jumpy) Allows handling with a loose body, soft eyes, high tail wag, ears back, and leaning into pets. Play: Very interested in toys, would walk around with them in his mouth and bring them to you. Held his leash in his mouth but was able to make him drop it with a toy. Dog Interaction: Had a fence greeting w/ Turkey- his tail was up and wagging, ears back, body loose and slightly wiggly, mouth closed, and paw lift. Return to Kennel: Walked straight through kennel by my side. His eyes started darting and that is when I just started walking faster and he walked faster along side me. I was easily able to clip the leash. Went into kennel on his own, removed leash by clip method. Color Level: Suggesting Gold level. Recommendations and considerations: He is very food motivated, I think he will do well with training. Per staff 8/6/26: ACA was attempting to bring Goku into the kennels. He was hesitant to go through the doors and kept turning around and backing up. Was able to open the other door and he came through however his eyes were darting and kept turning around to go back to the hallway. Brought him back to the hallway and decided to take him through the volunteer office to the tta room. Had to double leash (one under his belly) to get to the tta room. Went into kennel with leash pressure and ACA was able to remove leash with hand. Per finder 8/6/26: Goku was found as a stray a few days ago and was noted to be very hyper and scared ' Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
