Socks

Socks is an adoptable male American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is a young adult and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Socks, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Evaluation Notes: 09/11/2026 - Dog is laying down with a tense body, tucked tail, and wide eyes upon first approach. He is able to be leashed and carried outside where he walks around in the yard slowly with a lowered head and low tail. As handlers walk into the yard, he retreats to a corner of the yard to lay down where he stays for the remainder of the interaction. When I talk to him with dog-directed speech, he briefly wags his tucked tail and then nudges his face into the corner. He is easy to carry back to his kennel.
