Princess is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is fully grown and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 4 days left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Princess, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Princess ACCT-A-255811 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Princess must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH at 10AM. This fun-loving two-year-old pup was originally brought to ACCT Philly as a stray back in July; while she was quickly adopted, unfortunately Princess ended up back at the shelter on August 28th when her new family lost their housing. Her previous adopters had nothing but great things to say about this energetic, outgoing, and happy-go-lucky girl who spent two months hanging out with their kiddos and keeping them entertained with her antics. Now, Princess is looking forward to finding a new home that will love her just the same! Princess previously lived with kids between 8 and 10 years old, and her family said that Princess was their BFF: she was super friendly and loved to pal around with the kiddos in the household! When it comes to other dogs, Princess has had some mixed reactions: while her in-shelter dog meets showed negative reactions towards other dogs including snapping and fixating, her previous owners noted some positive interactions when meeting other dogs in her adoptive home. Princess is a huge fan of peanut butter treats and is SUPER food motivated, making teaching her new commands a breeze. With her high energy level, Princess would thrive in an active household where she can stay busy and get plenty of enrichment and exercise! Due to lack of shelter space and Princess's length of stay, she now must find an adopter or rescue partner no later than Friday, September 25th at 10am. VIDEOS Princess and Ramsey dog meet: BEHAVIORAL INFORMATION 9/15 per volunteer: '10/10 walking buddy!!' 9/15 per handler: 'Pulls a lot, high energy.' 9/14 per volunteer: 'Easy to leash, came right to the front. Pulled moderately. Yes, I handled the dog. Princess let me pet her briefly but she was a lot more interested in receiving treats or sniffing around the grass. Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue. Princess was very wiggly and tail wagging when seeing people we passed on the street. It seemed like she is very social. She loved to explore her environment and searching for food. Even though she pulls hard at times, she was manageable and could be redirected. She always sat for treats and would offer her paw even without me asking. Princess can get jumpy at times.' 9/14 per handler: 'Friendly and social. Wants to meet people. Pulls a lot but manageable. Sits for treats.' 9/12 per handler: 'Sweet girl, loves walking, treat motivated.' 9/10 per handler: 'Strong on leash, very playful. Good girl.' 9/8 per staff: 'Nice and friendly to everyone. Does pull towards other dogs.' 9/7 per staff: 'Pulls but eventually stops. Good girl.' 9/6 per staff: 'Had the zoomies outside, but still did well.' 9/3 per staff: 'Easy to leash, came right to the front. Rowdy & jumpy, but still easy [to get out of kennel]. Jumping on the door- excited. Pulled mildly. Yes, I handled the dog. Allows [handling]. Tries to push back out. Sweet girl. Pulls a little on leash. Jumpy excited waiting at kennel door. Will jump on handler once giving attention. Had to clip to return back to kennel.' 9/3 per staff: 'Sweet girl, a little jumpy, pull a little on leash.' 9/2 per volunteer: '10-lap walk along with Venom. Princess was still snapping when meeting face to face; butt sniff was ok.' 9/2 per staff: Very good, loves to play.' 9/1 per staff: 'During [adopter] meet, Princess was very bouncy, had a loose wagging tail. Pulled moderately in kennels and eagerly sniffing as we went along. During the meet she did a few rounds of sniffs with everyone and eventually became jumpy/mouthy with me. Every now and then would grab the leash, however it was never near my hands. She did jump up on one of the people meeting her and mouthed their hand, to which I pulled her away immediately. During this she went between my legs and sat down. I kept the leash very short as she kept trying to hop up to mouth my hands. Ended the meet shortly after but had her out for about 5-8 minutes total. Very sweet girl who would benefit highly from rope toys or stuffy. Used a treat scatter to take leash off to end our interaction on a positive note. Hoped into her kennel by herself.' 9/1 dog meet notes: 'Princess and Ramsey. Hard pulling, almost to the point of choking her self out. Not easily distracted when under 10 ft apart. Hard barking. Attempted to distract so he could sniff and she turned snapping at him.' 9/1 per staff: 'Kennel Presentation: Laying down sleeping when I approached her kennel. Called her name and she got up with soft/wide eyes, ears to the side and mid tail. Snatchy taking a treat that I offered. Leash Skills: Easy to leash and pulls hard on the leash. Sociability: Tolerated pets however did not solicit for more. There are notes on her walk sheet of her being jumpy and mouthy. Play: n/a. Dog Interaction: Attempting meet Ramsey. Hard pulling, vocalizing and snapped when he attempted to sniff. Return to Kennel: Went right into kennel and I removed leash with hand. Color Level: Exp Blue.' 8/31 per staff: 'Bolted out of kennel. Wanted to play and was putting her mouth on my arm but no pressure.' 8/30 playgroup notes: 'Steer test 0/5 with both. Hard barking, pulling hard towards the fence. Tense body and muzzle punching at the fence. Fixated even in the other yard. Did not make it into playgroup.' 8/30 per staff: 'Jumpy but sweet. Adoption meet. Loves treats and to chase balls.' 8/30 per staff: 'High energy, stress, jumpy, lunging through kennel. Strong puller. Too aroused and fixated to join playgroup.' Princess was returned to ACCT Philly on 8/28 due to the adopter's loss of housing. Her owner noted at the time of surrender that Princess was 'friendly, loving, playful with kids and other pets. Loves treats and to cuddle. Well behaved in home and out. High energy. She listens well. Super excited around other dogs but not harmful - playful manner, friendly, no aggression.' Her owners noted that she was mostly housebroken with some accidents, and was working on her crate training skills. She responded to the commands 'sit,' 'paw,' and 'come here,' and they noted she enjoys peanut butter flavored treats. She was described as 'very friendly' with strangers and children, and 'friendly' towards cats. They recommended she be placed in a playful and spacious environment. 7/21 per staff: 'Princess was laying down in her kennel when I approached and calmly got up with loose body language. She was easy to leash and pulled mildly through the kennels. When we got outside, there was a small dog about 10-15 feet away from us right away. She pulled hard and did a high pitched but quiet scream towards the dog. After we passed, she settled and curiously sniffed around the grass. In the small yard she went potty quickly. She spent most of her time sniffing but would occasionally come up to me wiggling. She'd only stay for a few seconds of pets, but treats really kept her attention. She sat for treats and took them snatchy at first but more gentle with time. She allowed handling all over but was more into food than pets for sure. She gave no issues returning to the kennel or getting the leash off.' 7/16 per medical exam: 'Friendly, social, tolerant of all handling. Very treat motivated. Toss treats on the floor.' 7/16 per staff: 'Overall friendly, happy-go-lucky, went in truck on her own. Came from basement of finder. Infested with fleas, malnourished.' MEDICAL INFORMATION Princess's 8/28 intake exam noted she weighed 54 pounds, and was approximately 2 years old. She had no health issues noted at that time.
