Zeus

Zeus is an adoptable male American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Zeus, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Evaluation Notes: 09/21/2026 - Dog displayed sociability by coming over for affection with a wagging tail and loose body. He seemingly recognizes me as he stands up to approach as soon as I walk over to his kennel. He jumped up to nip the leash seemingly playfully. With some people, he barks at first. He is able to be leashed and walked outside where he is difficult to walk as he pulls heavily on leash. He jumps up on the kennel door and on outside fences as people approach rushing forward and then able to adjust once he knows them with loose body and wagging tail. Dog was previously housed in an office where he chewed/broke items. He was reactive by vocalizing with handlers at times by resource guarding toys, food, and sometimes his space. Vet Exam Notes: 09/08/2026 - patient on vet exam list to recheck ventral cervical wound and check ears due to head shaking patient is bar, bcs 5-6/9, ventral cervical wound remains small with good granulation bed and healing slowly, no overt bleeding- will be slow healing wound due to prior embedded collar injury au exhibiting waxy debris- requesting ear cleaning + claro administration au Animal ID: A809556 Due Out Date: 05/25/2026
