Duke

Duke is an adoptable male American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is a young adult and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Duke, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Evaluation Notes: 09/20/2026 - Attempted co-house session with Duke A825813 and Bonnie A825488 He continued to display sociability with all handlers and is walked outside. He greeted Bonnie appropriately with a loose body and wagging tail and she walked away. As Duke attempts to continue interacting with her, she escalated for space inappropriately by biting him in the face and vocalizing with no break in skin. He did not reciprocate or escalate behavior and stood in place allowing her to walk away. He comes over to handlers when called for and is easily examined, offered affection, and returned to kennel.
