Nino

Nino is an adoptable male American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is a young adult and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Nino, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Evaluation Notes: 09/17/2026 - 1 of 2 in kennel Dog was fearful upon first approach with a tucked tail and a tense body. He is able to be leased and walks out of his kennel where he freezes in the aisle with a trembling body, wide eyes, and tucked tail. He is not interested in moving and is carried to a play yard. He is unable to adjust in the yard by staying in the place he was set down with the same body language. He growls with a tense body and raised hackles at passing handlers and dogs. As primary handler enters the yard he begins wagging his tail and whining with a loose body. He continues to growl at both male and female dogs passing. He is slowly walked back to his kennel with a tense body and wagging tail and is prompted into his kennel.
