Mara

Mara is an adoptable female Rat Terrier looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. She is a young adult and small in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Mara, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Evaluation Notes: 09/22/2026 - Dog is fearful upon appraoch with a tense body, wide eyes, and low tail. She is not interested in offered treats and moves to the back of her kennel in the corner. She is not interested in interaction nor being leashed. After walking away, she eats high value treats. Coming back, she continues to take high value treats tossed to her and remains nervous with a tense body, wide eyes, and low tail.
