Maxime

Maxime is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at NYC ACC-Manhattan in New York, New York. She is fully grown and large in size. During her time in the care center Maxime has been observed to be very reactive to dogs. She has been observed to bark and growl at other dogs and pull very hard to get to them in kennel. This behavior is hard to redirect due to both her strength and level of reactivity. She is noted to pull very hard. At times she has to be muscled out of rooms as she fixates on the dogs in kennels. She is noted to be social with handlers and has engaged in training here. Medically, Maxime has Otitis Externa and Pyoderma. Maxime arrived at MACC as a stray with no known history. While in care she has been observed to be highly on leash reactive. Noted to bark and growl at other dogs during intake. Maxime will also pull hard towards the other kennels and then turn towards the handler. Recently Maxime has been observed to bark and pull towards people in the hallways. Due to the detailed behavior, we recommend an experienced adult only home that makes no trips to the dog park. What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me. I would do best in a home with only adult humans. I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles! I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.
