Chorus is an adoptable female Bullmastiff looking for a home at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control - West in Phoenix, Arizona. She is fully grown and large in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 3 days left, listed due to behavior. Adopting Chorus, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Recommendations GO SLOW FAMILY INTRODUCTION Memo 9/22/2026 09/22/26 15:05 This dog is experiencing significant stress and anxiety in the shelter, particularly while kenneled. These behaviors are often a response to the overwhelming sights, sounds, and confinement, along with the lack of choice or control over their environment. Although this dog continues to show appropriate behavior outside of the kennel with positive interactions with staff and volunteers,without intervention, well-being will continue to decline. Immediate placement is needed with an experienced adopter or New Hope Partner who can provide time and space to decompress in a calm, supportive home. Placement needed by close of business 9/27/26. May be at risk of euthanasia 9/28/26 or sooner if warranted. Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 9/19/2026 , I went on an East meets West walk today! 9/15/2026 Solicited attentions, Avoidant, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Not interested in treats, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, Calm, Appeared interested when walking past kennels, Ignored dogs when walking past kennels, moderate pull to play yard, explored yard, sniffed at dog walking by but no bad behavior. allowed pets but didnt seek attention. strong pull out of building on our walk. moderate to loose pull during our walk. saw dogs on the way back in, sniffed at them but no barking. 9/7/2026 Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Not interested in toys, Not interested in treats, Easy/Loose Leash, Calm, Fence fight attempt, didn't solicit attention but did allow petting when she came near 8/30/2026 Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Not interested in toys, Not interested in treats, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, Calm, Timid, alarm barking on approach but quiet once shown leash. used a treat to leash. she ate it but didn't eat snacks in the yard, explored, then stood by gate, externally focused on noises, came when called, leaned in for rump scratches but over all independent. pulled more on return 8/24/2026 Timid, tail tucked, slow leashing, allowed all handling and vaccine booster with muzzle wrap restraint, returned to kennel with no issue, slow leash removal. 8/22/2026 Dog came up to kennel door, soft and wiggly when handler came to move dog. Took hot dog treat gently when offered. Easy to leash, and slight pull while walking to new kennel building. Dog sniffed area while handler was putting on PPE. Dog walked right into new kennel and handler was able to unleash by hand. 8/20/2026 Solicited attentions, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Not interested in toys, Not interested in treats, Easy/Loose Leash, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, Calm, Appeared interested when walking past kennels, easy to leash up. moderate pull to play yard. pulled towards a few kennels but only sniffed, no barking or lunging at other dogs. explored yard, went potty, followed handler around yard. loved all pets. calm girl, very sweet. 8/12/2026 Dog would slowly come forward with treats & verbal coaxing. Would take treats gently. Allowed petting through kennel gate. Interested parties should be counseled on providing this dog with proper decompression time in a new home.  Allowing time to adjust is important for their comfort and well-being.  Adopters should be counseled on proper dog-to-dog introductions, which should only occur after the dog has fully decompressed. Based on kennel presence & intake notes, dog is behaviorally adoptable as a \"YELLOW\" with Go Slow as a Recommendation. 8/11/2026 Day 1: During AM walk through, handler observed that K-9 did not eat kibble offered.
