About Cookie Butter

Cookie Butter is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is fully grown and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 3 days left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Cookie Butter, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Cookie Butter ACCT-A-260533 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Cookie Butter must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4TH at 10AM. Should Cookie Butter's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Cookie Butter! This sweet girl came to ACCT Philly on September 2nd after she was found underweight and alone on a porch. Understandably, her first day was a scary one. She barked and kept her distance from the officers who picked her up, so staff gave her some quiet time to adjust. It didn't take long for her to show us who she really is. By the very next day, she was coming to the front of her kennel to take treats, and within a few days she was leaning into handling and resting her head in a staff member's lap. Cookie Butter walks nicely on a loose leash, heads right back into her kennel without fuss, and is very tuned in to her handlers. She is also very food motivated, which is no surprise for a girl who came in hungry, and can be snatchy with treats. Offering them with an open palm or tossing them for her to catch works best, and a little gentle manners training will go a long way. Cookie Butter has had good greetings with other dogs and is generally tolerant, often choosing to move away when she needs space, though she may correct when another dog is overly pushy. Cookie Butter is looking for an adult-only home where she can decompress, settle in, and keep building trust at her own pace. She has already shown how quickly she warms up once she feels safe, and she has plenty of affection to give the right person. If you're looking for a loyal, people-focused girl, come meet Cookie Butter! Due to her length of stay, Cookie Butter is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter. Handlers tried to call dogs apart and Starlight snapped at Cookie Butter, who snapped back, and they started to scuffle.
