Rex

Rex is an adoptable male Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at NYC ACC-Queens in Ridgewood, New York. He is a young adult and large in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to behavior. Adopting Rex, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information. Rex is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. In the care center, Rex has shown high arousal and fixation around food, including repeatedly jumping at and pushing into handlers; treat pouches and grabbing onto clothing. Rex responds well to training and has shown improvement with leave-it and disengagement work, successfully redirecting from treat pouches and other dogs when cued, but is struggling to regulate his arousal on his own in the care center. Medically, Rex is apparently healthy. What my friends at ACC say about me: I can go home today! I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I would do best in a home with only adult humans. I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets. Name: Rex Animal ID: 239520 Gender: male Location: Queens Animal Care Center Weight: 69 lbs Age: 2 years 1 weeks
