Lil Bit is an adoptable male Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is fully grown and medium in size. Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Lil Bit. I am a male, black Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 17, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHB14. Weight: 48.2 lbs Intake date: 8/17/2026 Lil Bit's story is heartbreaking. He was found abandoned, tied to a tree and left behind. ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Lil Bit tested LOW POSITIVE for heartworms, so he will need appropriate veterinary follow-up and treatment. He received DA2PP, Bordetella and rabies vaccinations, deworming, pyrantel and Advantage Multi. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Lil Bit initially presented as shy and worried, and one interaction showed just how unsure he may be of human touch. When a staff member reached toward him, he repeatedly flinched, winced and cowered'but once the petting began, he enjoyed it. As he's had more positive interactions, staff have repeatedly described a dog with a relaxed or neutral body and wagging tail. He approaches for treats, is very food motivated, frequently walks nicely on leash and has been calm and quiet in his kennel. He has even looked up at his handler while walking and followed along for treats.
