Serena

Serena is an adoptable female Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. She is a young adult and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Serena, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 6 months old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 23, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHA22. Skin scrapes on both girls were negative, and they received Advantage Multi. Continued flea prevention and routine skin care were recommended. Both are heartworm negative and received DA2PP, Bordetella, rabies vaccination, deworming and pyrantel. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: These sisters are scared and stressed in the shelter environment. Serena is described as a little timid but friendly, wiggly on walks and accepting of pets. When separated from her sister, she cried, whimpered and scratched at the kennel door. She has also attempted to climb the runs. Venus is more fearful and may press herself against the wall or tuck her face into a corner. She seems to gain confidence when Serena is leashed first and will then follow. Once walking, she also has a wiggly body and allows staff to pet her. She and Serena have both tried to climb out of the runs, so they will need secure handling.
